Get the current on iPhone/iPad technology: Ipads Advisor

Mango is yet another browser based full-screen editor from Hog Bay Software application, the folks behind apps such as TaskPaper and FoldingText. This one is a Markdown editor, however as typical with anything made by Jesse Grosjean, it’s some clever twists.

If you understand Markdown, you can dive right in. Files are conserved locally in your browser’s own storage (I stopped and relaunched Safari and this post was still there). There are keyboard faster ways, auto-completing lists:

  1. This
  2. Is
  3. A list
  4. That auto-completes.

And you can also fold and focus your text. Wait. Exactly what? That’s not Markdown …

Folding and focussing are 2 Functions that come straight out of Grosjean’s FoldingText for iOS. Folding collapses a file based upon its headers, so you can see the section headings without the body text, like an outliner. You can also Focus, meanings that that you get to see the existing paragraph you are dealing with an absolutely nothing more. Sort of the reverse of the fold.

Finally, there’s a cool choice help. Use the and secrets with the up or down arrows to extend the current choice In both directiosn, or to shrink it. It’s easier than it sounds.

Import / export? Copy/paste. There are some bugs today (it can be a little sluggish when you initially start typing, and when you do any non-typing operation, the next thing you type will be capitalized as if it were at the beginning of a sentence, however otherwise it’s rather slick – I composed this whole post in it with no issues.

Go check it out: it’s free.
